Thomas Global Gains CAAC Approval for Boeing 737/757/767 Plug-and-Play LCD Flight Displays

IRVINE, California and SYDNEY, Australia: Thomas Global Systems has received Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for its TFD-7000 Series plug-and-play LCD flight displays for Boeing 737/757/767 cathode ray tube (CRT) equipped aircraft.

CAAC certification is the latest in a growing number of TFD-7000 Series regulatory approvals, including from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA), Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB).

The TFD-7000 retrofit innovation captures all the benefits of LCD technology in a proven, drop-in solution with growth capacity for emerging airspace requirements, while avoiding a major flight deck modification with its associated aircraft downtime and crew retraining costs.

“CAAC approval of our TFD-7000 Series LCDs is an important next step in making our high-performance plug-and-play flight displays available to Chinese operators,” said David Barnes, Thomas Global’s COO. “The TFD-7000 addresses critical CRT obsolescence issues, restores supply chain certainty and improves reliability for Boeing 767, 757 and 737 CRT-equipped aircraft, all in a practical, drop-in design.”

The TFD-7076/7066 plug-and-play LCD solution replaces legacy Collins Aerospace EDU-776/766 CRT displays currently installed on Boeing 757, 767, and 737 Classic flight decks. Its inventive plug-and-play design means displays are both interchangeable and intermixable with the existing legacy EDU-776/766 CRT displays, are installable on overnights or at the gate, and require no flight or maintenance crew retraining.

Thomas Global is proceeding with regulatory validation of the TFD-7000 Series Displays with additional foreign regulators as well as adapting its high-performance flight display technology and plug-and-play design for other CRT-equipped aircraft types.
